GNS: Students Shaping the Future of the Environment

Posted on:

Harry Collinge High School in Hinton was proud to be accepted as one of twenty high schools from across Alberta and BC to attend the Generate/Navigate Environmental Youth Leadership Summit in Canmore, hosted by Inside Education.

The summit 'brought together 160 students and teachers and over 70 expert guests to advance energy, water and climate education. Through a dynamic program filled with hands-on sessions, workshops, and tours, all participants shared ideas, discussed key topics and learned about technologies and innovations that are shaping our future. The summit was an inspiring event that has empowered young leaders, created lasting memories and set the stage for school-based action projects.'

The team from Harry Collinge included teachers Andre Morson and Jen Wotton, and six students from grades 10-12. The group is looking forward in sharing their experiences from the summit with the larger school community, and establishing a formal school club focused on sustainability and innovation.
