GNS: RAK Week Activities

Random Acts of Kindness Week was the perfect time to #MakeKindnessTheNorm; sharing some of our students' stories of kindness shows the big difference they can make through small acts. GYPSD schools annually celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week.  It’s a celebration of all the ways we can become a positive influence in each other’s lives. Even one small act of kindness can mean a great deal to somebody. We are so proud that our students took a few moments to brighten someone's day! Here a few of their stories.

At École Mountain View School in Hinton, Grade 4 students in Ms. Poon’s class and Grade 3/4 students in Mrs. Wiebe's class walked over to spread some community cheer at their local hospital. The students from both classes made cards for local doctors, nurses and staff members. They were also super excited to receive 102 honks from drivers reacting to their signs in recognition!

Students at Crescent Valley School in Mrs. Murphy/Jarvis' grade 6 class shared kind words/ phrases with each classmate. Each student was gifted with a heart with the kind words and phrases the classmates wrote.

Students at Evansview School took the Valentine's Day cards they have been working on to the seniors at Good Samaritan Seniors Lodge. Every resident and staff member received a special Valentine's Day card from one of the students.

Fulham School recognizes citizenship awards each month and the month of February focused on Random Acts of Kindness, so any teacher who spots a student being kind gives them a heart with their name and the kind deed observed. This heart is displayed on their main bulletin board and each student will receive a Kindness Award at their assembly in March. The school also has daily messages about kindness for the whole month of February during their morning announcements.
