GNS: ELITE Program's Community Project

Posted on:

The Grande Cache Community High School Elite Program has partnered with the non-profit Smoky River Nordic Ski Club on an amazing project for the community of Grande Cache.

The GCCHS Elite program is a unique option program for Grade 10, 11, and 12 students. It covers many trade areas such as Welding, Automotive, Machining, Sheet Metal, Electrical, and other relevant skills. Each class is divided into different trade groups and the students then rotate through these groups throughout the year.

This year's Elite program students have been working extremely hard in their welding and fabrication units to make all of the new ski racks, benches, and signage holders from the Nordic Club's trailheads and trail system. What makes this initiative even more amazing is that they also partnered with the Municipal District of Greenview and Alberta Environment and Parks who have supported the financial costs as part of the effort to improve the trail systems and signage in their area. It is always great when many organizations can work together to improve a community!
