GNS: GYPSD School Councils Receive Education Engagement Grant

Alberta Education recently announced that each School Council in Alberta's public schools will receive $500 to support parent involvement in the school community and enhance student learning. School Councils play an important role in the success of a school's focus on student learning. They provide a way for members of the community to share advice and stakeholder perspectives with principals and school boards. The Alberta School Councils Engagement (ASCE) Grant is intended for parent involvement and engagement activities that increase the number of school events for parents, increase the number and range of communication tools the school can use to reach parents, and increase methods to gather input. GYPSD's School Councils are also supported through membership to the Alberta School Councils' Association (ASCA) which provides resources, workshops, and professional learning opportunities for councils and parents.
